Sander Gibson was born in
Laurinburg,
North Carolina.
Having developed a passion for art early in life, he
entered
East
Carolina
University
in
Greenville,
NC
as an art major, attended Ringling School of Art in
Sarasota,
FL and was awarded a BFA in Painting and
Printmaking at the
University of
North Carolina at
Greensboro. Additionally he undertook
coursework at the Lyme Academy of Art, Old Lyme, CT
and NC State University’s
School
of Design
for Architecture.
Sander has taught classes
in painting, life-drawing, etching, and sculpture.
He participated in the Third Century Artist Program
of the North Carolina Arts Council. Besides one-man
exhibitions, his work has been included in the North
Carolina Annual Artists Exhibition at the North
Carolina Museum of Art, the Annual Artists
Exhibition at the Fayetteville Museum of Art, & the
Raleigh Fine Arts Society Exhibition at
Meredith
College in
Raleigh,
NC.
His work is included in private and corporate
collections in this country, the West Indies, England and the
Mid East. After a decade and a half sabbatical,
Sander has returned to his other visual art-love
photography, turning a painter’s eye to the camera.
Sander Gibson lives with
his wife and daughter in Blowing Rock,
North Carolina.
